For Alice Berry, volunteering with Sent With Love has become a meaningful part of her retirement. 💌
"Being retired, I get a lot of recreation and down time. I need something meaningful in my life -- and helping with Sent With Love is rewarding to me. Making cards, writing cards, has helped. Visiting Jennifer to help with a project... all this benefits me as I seek to benefit Sent With Love. AND I'm getting out of the Michigan February winter!"
With more recreation time and fewer daily commitments, Alice began looking for something that would bring purpose and connection to her days. She found that opportunity through Sent With Love when she met Jennifer at church. Writing and making cards for Warrior Families has given her a way to share encouragement while doing something creative and heartfelt.
Alice also enjoys visiting Jennifer to help with projects whenever she can. Those moments of serving together — whether writing cards or helping behind the scenes — have become a rewarding way for her to give back and spend time with her friend.
She often says that while she hopes her cards encourage families, volunteering has also been a blessing in her own life. It’s a reminder that acts of kindness can uplift the giver just as much as the receiver.
And as an added bonus, her visits sometimes give her a chance to escape the Michigan February winter for a little while. ☀️
We are incredibly grateful for long-time volunteers like Alice whose generosity, creativity, and heart help Sent With Love continue encouraging Warrior Families month after month. 💛
